What Uganda’s Sovereignty Bill Means for the Diaspora

The Uganda Global Forum hosted this important conversation bringing together diaspora voices to discuss the Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026 and its potential implications for Ugandans living abroad. The discussion explores key provisions of the bill, what they may mean for citizenship, remittances, civic participation, and diaspora engagement, as well as the importance of constructive participation in the ongoing parliamentary process. This session was organized to help inform Ugandans in the diaspora, create awareness, and encourage meaningful engagement on a matter affecting many communities worldwide.
